Resting Pieces to Breathe & Recoup
Li Huajing
London Based Artist
My art is a counterpoint to an AI-driven world.
I am not creative who opposes AI outrightly, (as it is useful to systemise workflows), instead my art centres on the tactile outside the digital realm. The softness in life evoked by colour and artisan.
Each art work is composed with hand-mixed harmonious colours that create softness and peace. A resting piece to breathe and recoup.
The composition is left intentionally open for viewers to inhabit rather than observe.
So there is a shared space between artist and audience, a dialogue to co-create the narrative of the painting.

Colour as a Language
Colour is more than aesthetics. Research consistently shows that colours can shape our mood, nervous system and sense of self in ways we rarely pause to notice.

Gentle Flow
Soft, considered colours are the main characters in this art piece.
The colours are cultivated to settle the mind, slow the breath and create space for stillness
The composition reflects the same philosophy.
A hand drifts unhurriedly past white lilies, warm spring air moving between fingers, silk rustling almost imperceptibly. There is no urgency here, only a reminder to move through life a little more slowly, to let moments unfold rather than rush past them.
A reminder, and a gift, for anyone who needs permission to pause.

Every commission begins with a conversation. If you'd like an original piece created with a specific place, person, or feeling in mind, I'd be glad to hear what you're imagining.
One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime.
Dementia is a cruel disease which slowly erodes the minds and reduces individuals to adult toddlers..
My grandma was bed bound for the last years of her life and I struggled with the loss of my grandma; a thriving strong woman who refused to bind her feet reduced to an adult toddler.
